|Steve Camilleri - Bio
Steve Camilleri is a New York native and grew up on Long Island. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1994, majoring in marketing and sociology. He then went on to graduate in the first class of the ACE Program (Alliance for Catholic Education). As a participant in ACE, Steve taught for two years at Holy Ghost Catholic Grade School in Hammond, Louisiana, and received his MAT degree (Master in the Art of Teaching) from the University of Portland.
After fulfilling his commitment to the ACE Program, Steve returned to Notre Dame, working in the Development Department as well as in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. He received his MNA degree (Master of Nonprofit Administration) from the University in 2001.
While pursuing his MNA, Steve accepted a position as the founding director of Notre Dame's Vocation Initiative (NDVI), a program which guided high school and Notre Dame students, alumni, faculty, and staff in a theological search of their vocations (broadly understood). In August 2004, Steve left NDVI to serve as the Executive Director of the South Bend Center for the Homeless, a position he currently holds.
During his time at the Center, Steve has been asked to serve on the Governor's Commission for a Drug Free Indiana, Congressman Chocola's Nonprofit Advisory Board, the Indiana Interagency Council on Homelessness, as well as on the boards of several local nonprofit agencies.
But nothing has had as great an impact on Steve's life as his family. Steve and his lovely wife Erin Kennedy Camilleri have two beautiful children, Isabelle Marie and Michael Joseph.
