Charles R. McDonald, Jr. - Bio

Affectionately known as Charlie, he is one of our most revered Vietnam Combat Veterans and certainly one of the most highly decorated. He enlisted in the fighting Navy in 1970 at the height of the War and served nearly all of his first tour as a Gunner's Mate in the Pacific War Theater on the Guided Missile Destroyer-USS Joseph Strauss. With less than two years off, he reenlisted in 1976, continued to further his Gunnery rating and concluded that six year stint, with the last two as a Gunnery Instructor at Great Lakes Naval Station. Charlie was discharged with a chest full of medals and the respected rank of Gunner's Mate First Class. His exemplary 10 years of honorable service has since supported and lifted him into the highest reaches of Veterans Service. The following are a testament to that standing.
